Triathlon Training Tips
Many people are finding the joy and satisfaction of training and competing in triathlon and other endurance activities. The majority of those active are new triathletes, as this sport is growing very rapidly in the past few years. There are a few things to keep in mind, as you prepare for competing in triathlon. For this people, it is not necessary it is best to work gradually, over at least ten to twelve weeks, toward your goal. Choosing a good training a good training plan is also very helpful. Below I am listing some training tips to help you train for your triathlon. Pace yourself. Concentrate on covering a specific distance during your workouts, and not on going too fast, especially in the beginning. If you are not used to intense running sessions, you will need to get used to running before your body will accept the tougher workouts. * Distance over intensity. As your training goes along; work on distance first, then on intensity. Build up the distance you want to cover and, once you are comfortable with it, increase the intensity of the workout. Generally, you should still be able to talk. If you have a Heart rate monitor, learn how to run at about 50%-60% of your maximum heart rate. * Wear proper clothing. Make sure you use proper clothing for the conditions and your activity. The clothing should allow perspiration to pass through it well and should be comfortable and supportive. Check the weather and dress accordingly. * Brick training. A 'brick' is a combination of two activities during one workout. For example, a swim, then a bike ride. If you want to try a simple brick, and I suggest that you do, you can start with a stationary bike ride, and then do a run on a treadmill at the gym. You could also lap swim at your local gym, then run or bike outside. * Know your race. If you can, try to scout the triathlon or running race before you compete. It is a good idea to understand the type of hills and other conditions, so you train properly for it. The last thing you would want is to have trained on pavement, when the running is entirely on sandy trails. * Rest is a good thing. Make sure you are getting plenty of rest during your training period and before the big event. * Drink and eat properly If you planning a long workout consume fluids and food before, during, and after. Remember that if you start to feel thirsty it is already too late to rehydrate sufficiently. Try to consume the same foods during the training as you would during the race. * In conclusion. Try to have fun. Don't give yourself an unrealistic goal. It is not the end of the world if you don't beat a specific time or competitor. Besides, there's always next time!
